NFL and UFC Picks for Oct 12 & 13th 2024

Hello and welcome to my new blog, Touchdowns and Takedowns! I am Julian Pellegrini, and I have followed and bet on both the UFC and NFL for some time now, and so I have decided to begin sharing my weekly betting tips with other fans. I hope you guys appreciate this content, and I encourage you to reach out via my email, julian.pellegrini@mohawkcollege.ca, with any questions you may have.

For this weekend, let's start with my NFL picks that I believe have a good chance of hitting and making you some money. We are entering week 6 in what has been a strange, and thus hard to predict, season of football so far. One sleeper pick I have for this weeks slate of games is taking the Washington Commanders over the Baltimore Ravens, against whom they are 6.5 point underdogs. Jayden Daniels and the Commanders offense have looked great so far this year, and their defense looked shutdown last week against the Browns. It's always hard to bet against Baltimore, but with the money line in this one it might be worth taking the risk to win big. Another sleeper pick I identified is taking Arizona to beat the Green Bay Packers, who are favored by 5.5 points. Arizona has looked good at times this year, and are riding high fresh off their comeback win over the 49ers last week. If they can carry that momentum into this week and Jordan Love continues to struggle, Arizona could pull off the massive upset and win you some serious cash.  Moving on to some safer picks, I would take the Colts to beat the Titans, the Chargers to beat the Broncos, and the Steelers to defeat the Raiders. A parlay built with these three outcomes should net you a solid return.

In the UFC we have this Saturday "UFC Fight Night: Royval vs Taira". The card is pretty weak on star power, and I can't say that I am very familiar with most of the fighters on the main card. Therefore, I will only offer advice for the main event. Tatsuro Taira, the -300 favorite, is undefeated so far in his professional MMA career, and has finished his last two opponents in the UFC via knockout. Brandon Royval meanwhile has gone to decision in his last two Octagon appearances, a win and a loss, and he only narrowly prevailed in his last bout. Royval is an intriguing underdog here as he has experience against the best in the division, but I would lean with putting your money on Taira, who has momentum on his side.

That's all from me for this week, but check back soon for more NFL and UFC betting analysis/reactions. Good luck everyone!

UFC 310 Prelim Picks

Welcome back to part 2 of my picks for UFC 310! In this post I will be giving my picks for the prelims, which features a number of notable names. Starting with Anthony Smith vs Dominic Reyes, I would take Reyes in this one, as he has been hot lately and has a lot of experience even when compared to Smiths long career. Moving on, we have veteran Vicente Luque vs up & comer Themba Gorimbo.   Luque   likely has the advantage in the stand-up battle, and his aggressive style could overwhelm Gorimbo if the fight stays on the feet. If Gorimbo can avoid Luque’s power and manage to take the fight to the ground, he could make things difficult for Luque. However, if the fight remains striking-heavy, Luque’s power, volume, and experience at the top level should give him the edge. He is a +140 underdog, so there is some money to be made by even placing a decent sized bet on him. Next up is former champion Aljamian Sterling taking on Movsar Evloev. This is a fight that I would be ...

Nov 11th NFL Recap, Dec 8th NFL Picks

Hello and welcome back to Touchdowns & Takedowns! Today we will be making some picks for the upcoming week in the NFL. However, I'll begin by recapping my picks from my last post. You were in luck if you chose to bet on one or both of my sleeper picks to cover the point spread, as the Broncos and Buccaneers both nearly pulled off the upsets. However, if you chose them to win, or took my parlay, your luck was considerably worse. It was a week of close games, and those can always go either way.  Moving on to this week in the NFL, my first sleeper pick is the Atlanta Falcons, who are taking on the Minnesota Vikings. While the Vikings have been very good this year and Atlanta has slumped in recent weeks, I think that Kirk Cousins will get fired up for this game against his former team and at the very least keep it within the 5.5 point spread. My second sleeper pick is the New York Jets taking on the Miami Dolphins. Despite the disaster year that its been for the Jets, they st...
